The [Category] field is populated by a dropdown list box that gets the categories from another table (and it works fine).

Thanks for your help Sorry that didn't work out for you. My overall form contains fixed data, and your new form contains the order data, but I can't find a ways of submitting the entire form and all its data, without the order form submitting the whole form rather than just updating the order line elements Cheers Maybe I am getting confused, my understanding is that the process of completing the order form submits to itself to update the order line items, but then once the order form is complete, all parts entered with quantities etc, the end user will complete the order by submitting the completed form (Another Submit order Button), which will inturn save the data to an orders table in the my SQL database.

Unfortunately, I am not fully familiar with My SQL, or I'd be happy to provide a more comprehensive answer. Other than that, let me know if I can be of further help to you. Maybe I am over complicating matters, If you can advise on a simpler solution, then I would be grateful.

This list will get longer if the user need to add more lines. I'm testing this with a DSN to a database on the web at the moment.

Thanks in advance Okay -- first question: did you want to do this on the client or the server side? This will change to a IP based connection when it goes live.

Say the table format is ID, Top_assy, ordered_part, qty, contact Thanks okay -- so the qty field is obviously the quantity that the user is ordering of that particular part, right? Yeah -- the qty field goes against the part, so in your example, Bike, Bike Tires ----- Qty Racecar, Rear Spolier ------- Qty The number of items to add can be simpliefied to click a button to add one line at a time if prefered. I have other form elements which are just text input for name, store number, required date of installation. It should be very straight forward to add the contact information, and to "wire up" the page so it inserts the values into a database. I will be here to answer any questions that you might have. I've got the form working with my SQL, but I'm getting a couple of blank lines in the parts dropdown, and can't seem to remove one of them, I need one blank line or a prompt for the user to select part. Thanks, peh803 indeed, I believe double pipe " Tags: , ,
